Artists, performers, researchers, and creative professionals looking for an international residency opportunity in Japan can now apply for the Kinosaki International Arts Center (KIAC) Artist-in-Residence Program 2027/2028.
Located in Toyooka City, Japan, KIAC is a leading residency center dedicated to contemporary artistic practices, particularly performing arts and research-based creative projects. The program offers selected artists access to professional workspaces, accommodation, and opportunities to engage with local communities while developing their creative projects.
Residency Period
Selected projects can take place between:
•1 April 2027 – 31 March 2028

Residency Requirements
Successful applicants are expected to:
•Stay for a minimum of 7 days and up to 3 months
•Work independently during the residency
Cover their own travel, living, and production expenses
•Participate in community engagement activities
•Follow all residency rules and guideline.
Community Exchange Program
A unique feature of the KIAC residency is its Community Exchange Program.
Residents are encouraged to interact with local residents and visitors through activities such as:
•Open studios
•Workshops

Utility Fee
Accepted participants are required to pay:
350 Japanese Yen per person per day
This fee contributes to utility costs during the residency period.
