TaDA Residency 2027, Switzerland | Fully Funded International Artist Residency for Artists, Designers & Creative Practitioners

Applications are now open for the prestigious TaDA Residency 2027 (Textile and Design Alliance) in Switzerland. This fully funded international artist residency provides creative professionals from around the world with an opportunity to live and work in Arbon, Switzerland while collaborating with textile companies, researchers, designers, and cultural institutions.

The residency supports experimental projects that connect art, design, technology, sustainability, and textile innovation. Each year, six participants from Switzerland and abroad are selected to spend three months developing new work, conducting research, and building professional networks within one of Europe’s leading textile regions.




About TaDA Residency

TaDA (Textile and Design Alliance) is a cultural funding program that promotes innovative and interdisciplinary engagement with textile culture and contemporary design.

The residency connects artists and creative practitioners with textile industries, research institutions, and cultural organizations across Eastern Switzerland and Liechtenstein. Participants receive access to technical expertise, manufacturing knowledge, industry mentorship, and collaborative opportunities that help transform ideas into impactful projects.

Selected residents are encouraged to experiment, conduct applied research, and develop new work that responds to contemporary challenges in art, design, and sustainability.



Residency Location

📍 Arbon, Switzerland

Residents live and work in Arbon, a beautiful Swiss town located near Lake Constance (Bodensee). The residency provides easy access to both natural landscapes and industrial innovation, creating a unique environment for artistic research and creative production.



Residency Periods

Applicants may apply for one of the following residency sessions:

Session 1

April – June 2027

Session 2

September – November 2027

Each residency lasts approximately three months.

Private accommodation in Arbon within walking distance of both the workplace and Lake Constance.

Travel Expenses Covered

Round-trip travel costs are fully covered by the residency program.

Monthly Stipend

Residents receive a contribution toward living expenses during their stay.

Studio & Workspace Access

Dedicated workspace within the historic former textile and engine factory complex in Arbon.

Industry Mentorship

Direct access to textile manufacturers, researchers, engineers, and professionals from partner companies.

Technical Infrastructure

Use of technology, expertise, and specialized facilities offered by participating Swiss textile companies and institutions.

International Networking

Opportunities to collaborate with professionals from the creative industries, academia, and manufacturing sectors.

Public Presentation

Residents present their projects during the TaDA Spinnerei cultural event attended by international audiences and industry experts.



Required Application Materials

Applicants must submit the following:

•Curriculum Vitae (CV)

•Portfolio

A portfolio highlighting work completed within the last five years. Projects involving materials, textiles, craft, design, or experimental approaches are particularly relevant.

•Project Proposal

A proposal of no more than two A4 pages that includes:

- Project concept
- Visual references
- Sketches
- Images
- Research direction
- Potential collaboration with TaDA partner companies

Recommendation Letter

One professional or academic recommendation letter (maximum one page).
