About the Athens Residency

Founded in 2017, ARCAthens is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting artists, curators and scholars through meaningful engagement with Athens’ thriving cultural landscape. The Athens Residency is the organization's flagship program, offering two fully funded fellowships annually: one for a Visual Artist and one for a Curatorial Fellow.

Unlike traditional studio-focused residencies, the Athens Residency emphasizes research, dialogue and professional exchange. Fellows gain access to a carefully curated program of studio visits, private collections, museums, institutions, galleries and meetings with leading art professionals working in Greece and internationally.

The residency encourages participants to explore Athens as a site of cultural transformation while developing their own artistic or curatorial research.
